What We Do

Singapore's Precision UV PrintingService

UV printing is a digital process where ultraviolet light cures ink the instant it touches the surface, producing vibrant, high resolution prints with strong adhesion and long lasting durability. There are no solvents and no drying time. The graphic sits directly in the surface rather than sitting on top of it, unlike a vinyl sticker or a painted label that can peel, fade or scratch off.

At 3D Specialist, our UV printing service applies directly onto 3D printed parts and flat substrates including plastics, metals, glass, wood, acrylic and composites. This makes our Singapore UV printing offering ideal for branding, product markings, decorative graphics, serial numbers and full colour artwork on almost any finished component.

Whether you need a single branded prototype or a production run of hundreds of marked parts, our UV printing service delivers consistent, photographic quality output across every substrate we support. We manage the complete workflow in house, from artwork review and surface preparation through to final quality inspection and delivery.

Comparisons

UV Printing Service vs Vinyl, Screen Printing and Hand Painting

Not sure whether UV printing is the right call for your project? Here is how our UV printing service compares to the alternatives.

01

Single piece, branded prototype: choose UV printing.

Our UV printing service beats vinyl stickers on durability and beats hand painted or spray stencilled logos on fine detail and edge sharpness, since the ink cures directly into the surface rather than sitting on top of it.

02

Large flat area, high volume run: consider screen or pad printing.

For very large flat surfaces printed in the thousands, screen or pad printing can be more cost effective per unit. Our team will advise honestly if this fits your job better than our UV printing service.

03

Compound curved or fully wraparound surfaces: consider pad printing or airbrushing.

Our UV flatbed prints best on flat or gently curved surfaces. For deeply compound curves, pad printing or airbrushing gives a better result, and we can advise or refer you to the right process.

04

Dark or transparent substrates: choose UV printing with white ink.

Where vinyl or standard inks would be invisible or washed out, our UV printing service applies a white ink underbase first, keeping your graphics fully opaque and vibrant on any coloured background.

How It Works

The UV Printing Process

Step 01
Step 1 — Surface preparation for UV printing

Surface Preparation

The 3D part or substrate is cleaned and inspected to ensure optimal ink adhesion. Surface contamination, oils or residues are removed before printing begins. This step is critical to achieving sharp, long lasting results across every material our UV printing service supports.

Step 02
Step 2 — UV ink application and instant curing

Print & Instant Cure

Our UV printer applies ink layer by layer at up to 1200 DPI. As each pass is deposited, integrated UV lamps cure the ink instantly, producing sharp edges, vibrant colours and a surface that is immediately dry and handling ready, with no smudging or bleed.

Step 03
Step 3 — Quality inspection and finishing

Inspect & Finish

Printed parts are inspected for colour accuracy, edge definition and adhesion quality. Where required, additional coatings or varnish layers are applied for enhanced gloss, matte finish or scratch resistance before the finished pieces are packaged for delivery.

White Ink

White Ink UV Printing

Opaque base layer for dark and transparent surfaces

White ink is an essential capability within our UV printing service for printing onto dark, black or transparent substrates where CMYK alone would be invisible. We apply a white ink underbase before the colour layers, keeping your graphics vibrant and fully opaque regardless of the surface beneath. White ink can also be used as the sole print layer for a clean, minimal aesthetic.

High-Resolution Quality

Up to 1200 DPI output delivers crisp lines, photographic imagery and fine text that conventional printing methods cannot achieve on rigid 3D substrates.

Durable, Scratch-Resistant

UV cured ink forms a tough, chemically bonded layer resistant to scratches, fading, moisture and environmental exposure, lasting far longer than stickers or pad printing.

Multi-Material Versatility

Print directly onto plastics, metals, glass, wood, acrylic, leather and composites with the same machine and process, no substrate-specific tooling or changeover delays.

Instant Cure & Fast Turnaround

UV inks cure immediately as they are applied. No drying time means parts are handling ready right off the machine, enabling 1 to 2 day turnaround on most orders through our UV printing service.

Eco-Friendly Process

UV inks contain no solvents and release negligible VOCs during curing. Instant cure also eliminates the energy consumption of conventional drying ovens.

Full Customisation

Variable data printing allows unique serial numbers, QR codes or personalised designs on individual parts within the same batch, with no additional setup cost per variation.

We accept vector files such as AI, EPS and PDF, and high resolution raster files such as PNG, TIFF and PSD, at a minimum of 300 DPI at final print size. For best results, supply artwork in CMYK colour mode with all fonts outlined. If you only have a low resolution file, contact our UV printing service team first and we can advise on whether it is suitable or suggest workarounds.

Yes, absolutely. Our UV printing service is well suited to finished 3D printed parts across FDM, SLA, SLS and MJF. The surface should be clean, dry and reasonably smooth for best adhesion. For FDM parts with visible layer lines, light sanding or priming beforehand improves print quality significantly. We can advise on surface preparation as part of your order.

UV-cured inks form a chemically bonded layer that is significantly more durable than pad printing, screen printing or label application. The cured ink is scratch resistant, UV stable against fading under light exposure, and water resistant under normal conditions. For applications requiring even greater abrasion resistance, our UV printing service can apply a clear protective varnish overcoat.

There is no strict minimum order quantity. We handle single unit jobs for prototyping and sampling as well as production runs of hundreds of parts. Setup costs are minimal compared to screen printing or pad printing, which makes our Singapore UV printing service particularly cost effective for short runs and variable data jobs where each part carries a unique identifier.

Yes, and this is a popular combined workflow. We 3D print your parts, apply any required post processing such as sanding or priming, then UV print your graphics or markings in a single order. This eliminates the need to coordinate multiple vendors and ensures the substrate is prepared correctly before printing. Contact us with your full requirements and we will quote the complete pipeline.

Yes. White ink is available both as a full underbase layer for printing on dark substrates and as a standalone spot colour. Varnish options include high gloss, soft matte and spot varnish for selective coating effects. Raised tactile varnish can also be applied for premium decorative finishes. Specify your requirements when requesting a quote and we will confirm compatibility with your substrate.

Our UV printing service performs best on flat or gently curved surfaces, since the flatbed process needs a consistent surface to register sharp detail. For deeply compound curved or fully wraparound parts, pad printing or airbrushing usually gives a better result. Tell us your part geometry and we will recommend the right process honestly, even if that means a different technique than UV printing.
